Fish & Chips at Redcliffe

We had fish and chips at Redcliffe with a bunch of friends last week. The mosquito's were fierce but the sunset was amazing and the kids got on relatively well so a fun time was had by all.

Kingscliffe Holiday

We spent the last week in Kingscliffe with mum and dad. So nice to have a proper beach holiday! The weather was not too bad, only 1 really overcast day and about 3 nice sunny days so not bad at all.

Looking out at the pool from our balcony. It was freezing but lovely to lie beside. Luckily there was a spa that was nice and warm!

Kaisha and Grandpa in the spa. Kaisha spent hours swimming.

Me, Kaisha, Dad, Kaylene - Kaylene and Graeme came down and visited us.

Kaisha all ready for the beach.

This looks like a good place to eat chips.

Here I'll even share with you mama.

Update

Its the middle of October and I have only managed 1 post. About time for an update!

Kaisha on her bike. I discovered the other day that she can ride it! We don't really have enough flat surfaces around here but daycare obviously does.

Into mum's shoes again. Kaisha loves wearing my things and regularly comes clomping out with my high heels on or wearing a t-shirt as a dress.

Kaisha's Mask - she came home from daycare wearing the mask that she made and didn't take it off til dinner time.

My quilt. I'm half way thru sewing the large squares together to make the main top. Not sure that I'm going to have it finished by Kaisha's birthday tho!

Brisbane has gone from severe drought conditions to flooding in 2 years. A couple of years ago we were only allowed to use 130L per person per day and the dam levels were at below 20% (about 2 days supply of water for the city). Now the dams are all between 95-100% and they can't spill water out of them fast enough. So while the water sitting in the yard probably doesn't look like much to some people its the most we have ever seen in our 6 years of living in Brisbane.

Spring

The jacaranda's are blooming which means its Spring but there hasn't been much sign of it around here until this week. Usually September thru November we have beautiful temperate (20-28 degrees C) weather and the occasional afternoon storm. This September we have had low temps and rain, rain and more rain. The last 4 days we finally had some sunshine and temps of 28 of which I wasn't working for 1 day of. Of course its raining again today :(

I don't really have too much other news to impart. I'm back to feeling tired all the time and although I'm not being sick I'm still nauseous some of the time. Looking forward to going on holiday the end of next week! If anyone has any good books to recommend let me know.

Toilet Training Update

Well we are completely nappy free. As of Wednesday night I took the plunge and let Kaisha go to bed with undies on and we haven't had a wet bed yet! She totally has wee's sorted and hasn't had an accident while at home since last Sunday (she did have 1 on Monday at daycare). Poo's however are another story. When she needs to go, she is on and off the toilet for the 2 hours preceding but the minute she sits down she scares it away. And then eventually she has an accident cause she can't get there quick enough. Luckily for us she doesn't go every day! Anyway I'm sure it will come, she just has to figure out the sensations.
Overall tho I didn't expect toilet training to be this easy. I totally recommend waiting until the child is ready to do it and not when your ready.

Expanding the Woods

Baby number 2 is on its way. We had our 12 week scan today and found out that I am 13 weeks. This one is a wriggler. Kaisha was a very laid back baby who held still and took really great scan photos. Not so with this one, it wouldn't get into position and kept turning over again and again and waving its arms and legs around. For those who want to know, we don't know the sex yet but we will tell you when we find out at 18weeks.

Yes the reason I haven't posted so much lately is that I have been sick. Vomiting all the time sick, I have managed to lose a couple of kg's so far but I'm sure I will make up for it now that I'm starting to feel normal again. All day and night sickness is the WORST! Kaisha has been introduced to every type of takeaway imaginable. She also thinks its funny to stick her head into the potty or toilet and have a coughing fit. At the start she would pat (hit) my back and ask me if I was all right but by the end she just ignored me.

I'm starting to feel good again now tho and developing a little bump. I even got the sewing machine out today and started back on Kaisha's quilt. Fingers crossed this pregnancy is a smooth ride from now on.

Toilet Training

Well we are finally doing it and its working! Warning: the rest of this post might be a bit explicit and only for other interested mothers!
When Kaisha was 16 months she started telling me when she was going wees. From then on I have been trying to get her to go on the potty or toilet with no luck. She has awesome control and can hold for 3 or more hours! For the last few months she has been going on the toilet at daycare but not at home. At the start of this week she had never done a wee on the potty or toilet at home. Not once! On wednesday I had a chat with her teacher who said at daycare she was ready to be wearing undies so I thought that's it! We are doing this. I have tried chocolate and toys so this time I decided that as Kaisha loves to watch DVD's we would use that as our bribery. When she goes on the toilet she can watch something and when she has an accident we have to turn it off until she can go on the toilet again. So far it is working a treat. Thursday we had one success on the potty and also only one on Friday. Saturday we had about half success and half accidents and Sunday we have had complete success with no accidents! She is wearing undies to bed for her sleep and has yet to have an accident. She doesn't even want to wear a nappy to bed but I'm not ready for that just yet!
