Misc

I haven't been using my camera a whole lot lately. The below are just a couple of random shots from the last few weeks. The plan is to actually charge the battery on it and use it especially in the lead up to Christmas. We will be putting our tree up soon and Kaisha is very excited about Christmas and Santa coming. I'm already getting good mileage out of "Santa won't come if your not a good girl" Lets just hope it lasts for the next month!

In other news I now have a replacement at work. Its brilliant! She does all the lab work and I sit at the desk and do all the paper work which means that my sciatica is alot better and I have so much more energy.

More later in the week.....

Update

Its the middle of October and I have only managed 1 post. About time for an update!

Kaisha on her bike. I discovered the other day that she can ride it! We don't really have enough flat surfaces around here but daycare obviously does.

Into mum's shoes again. Kaisha loves wearing my things and regularly comes clomping out with my high heels on or wearing a t-shirt as a dress.

Kaisha's Mask - she came home from daycare wearing the mask that she made and didn't take it off til dinner time.

My quilt. I'm half way thru sewing the large squares together to make the main top. Not sure that I'm going to have it finished by Kaisha's birthday tho!

Brisbane has gone from severe drought conditions to flooding in 2 years. A couple of years ago we were only allowed to use 130L per person per day and the dam levels were at below 20% (about 2 days supply of water for the city). Now the dams are all between 95-100% and they can't spill water out of them fast enough. So while the water sitting in the yard probably doesn't look like much to some people its the most we have ever seen in our 6 years of living in Brisbane.

Spring

The jacaranda's are blooming which means its Spring but there hasn't been much sign of it around here until this week. Usually September thru November we have beautiful temperate (20-28 degrees C) weather and the occasional afternoon storm. This September we have had low temps and rain, rain and more rain. The last 4 days we finally had some sunshine and temps of 28 of which I wasn't working for 1 day of. Of course its raining again today :(

I don't really have too much other news to impart. I'm back to feeling tired all the time and although I'm not being sick I'm still nauseous some of the time. Looking forward to going on holiday the end of next week! If anyone has any good books to recommend let me know.

Update

Kaisha is sick, AGAIN. She has only been well for about 2 weeks since May. This started out as a cold 3 weeks ago and turned into a throat infection with antibiotics yet again. The poor thing is having high temps again but is fairly happy as long as the paracetamol is working. She is coughing again too although not as bad as she was last time.
Two nights ago she woke at 2 and kept the whole family up til 3. Feeling rather fed up as she was wide awake and wanting to play and I was not I went back to bed shutting our bedroom door. She had a fit banging on it and then I could hear her wandering the house. I tried to stay awake til she quietened down but it didn't work. In the morning this is where we found her.

Bear - Kaisha has developed a fondness for this bear who is getting carted round everywhere. When I get her up to have her medicine in the night I have to carry bear on one hip and her on the other.

Hide and Seek - Kaisha has quite a few spot books and spot's favourite game is hide and see. She has been asking to play it quite a lot lately. First she covers her eyes with me and counts and when we finish counting she runs off to hide. She always hides like this

under her bed. As I'm looking for her she yells out telling me she is under her bed. When I "find" her she wants to play again but doesn't bother to get out of her hiding spot. Hilarious!

Summer is coming here. Yay! I've been making quite a bit of sun tea. Take 3 tea bags and wrap em round a chop stick (so you don't have to fish). Add 2T sugar to your 1.25L jug. Add your water, suspend the tea bags from the chopstick across the top and leave it in the sun for an hour or two.
Yum!!!

We have had a very uneventful week here, which has been lovely. Kaisha is finally well, hardly coughing at all, and is in a much better mood because of it. It rained alot this week so the garden has shot up. One of my bean climers grew 1metre in one day! It has also turned lovely and warm, yay! Yesterday the temp was a very comfotable 25 C and last night we didn't even have the heater on so I would guess it will be hotter today. Kaisha and Nick have gone off to their swimming lesson this morning so I have my blissful hour of time to myself. Kaisha loves swiming lessons and is getting braver all the time. She now goes under a lot and sometimes tries to swim and jumps into the pool, with lots of encouragement of course!
Nick and Kaisha with her hair in bobbles - so cute!

Kaisha had her first haircut yesterday. The bribe was a lollipop (sucker for the Americans). I did take the camera but we ended up with her sitting on my knee and me singing nursery rhymes to keep her calm so no photos were taken. It was just a trim of the ends because they were so scraggly and tended to knot really badly. It now looks curlier that ever! She has never had a lollipop and as we were walking to the car after she said to me in frustration "I can't eat it mama". So I had to break it up so she could eat it. Don't think we will be giving her one of those for a while yet.

This is a photo of Kaisha cooking. Yes her stove is the rubbish bin and the food is prawn crackers from the thai takeaway place. I have really cute video of this so will try and remember to buy a cord so I can download it.

Bits & Bobs

Its been 11 days since I last posted, slack! My excuse is that I can't get photos off my camera and posts aren't the same without photos. The card reader on this computer has not worked for years and the cord that I use to download my photos appears to have a bite mark in it and it no longer works.
So we have been tootling along as usual here. I'm still attempting to toilet train Kaisha, we have had one number 2 and no wees. She does wees at daycare fine, I guess peer pressure has an effect or something, but not at home. Apparently at daycare they line them all up and go 3 at a time (3 toilets in a row) so its a bit of an event. Maybe we need to install an extra toilet ;D. Anyway we will persevere. I have a feeling that its going to take a while to happen.
Its getting colder here, its supposed to get down to 9 overnight on the weekend so we are pulling out the winter clothes and blankets. Laura is now working full time and is looking for a house. We are having John and Connie come to stay at the end of the week so looking forward to that.

Coming soon....

Mel is looking to take over the main posting, after Nick has not posted for almost 2 years. Nick has changed the title, it is just a placeholder at the moment.

Watch this space.
